Viral marketing for Battlefield: Hardline

Because this

Do you know how long it would take to mobilize the nearest national guard or infantry unit?

A hell of a lot longer than mobilizing the local swat team.

That's an excuse. Not a reason.

No. It is a reason. If we as a people want to possess weapons that can great harm (that are effective) we have to accept the possibility that bad people will get their hands on these weapons and use them for evil.

We need a system in place to answer these men in kind.

Stop being obtuse. The whole of government isn't out to get you, and every decision obama makes isn't wrong just because he made it.

Also, the president has very little to do with the inner workings of most small town police depts.

While I don't know the full scope, the media sure is having a field day. You know... My dad brought up a good point. If someone WERE to host an attack on our country, wouldn't we want these here? Sometimes I think people get scared of self-defense when they see it has a hostile internal take over. I'm not taking sides here, just saying. I'd like that as a defense item. Sure wouldn't want anything to be shooting at me.

My parents are freaking out, saying the president wants to declare martial law. Some far flung political dialogue (in my personal opinion). I think making sure that our police forces are well equipped to handle all kinds of threats - both domestic and from abroad - is a good thing. But that's just me.

its a good thing to have, but they shouldn't use it often, or ever, because they currently have no need for them. keeping them locked up in a garage until necessary would be fine

I didn't know a magazine is considered "war gear"...

[–]wethedownvotedNeoconservative 1 ポイント2 ポイント

the magazines is probably easy to explain. while i was in all the green follower mags were replaced with tan follower mags. i bet the police are just getting all the obsolete green followers. it's either that, or just so freakin many were bought for iraq/afganhistan that they're just sitting on giant shelves taking up space.

same with HMMWV's, we had like 8 parking lots filled with the older ones.

[–]DubYaTF88 2 ポイント3 ポイント

Well my point is that it is a bit sensationalist to say that magazines are war gear. Especially since I can go down to my local gun shop and buy an identical mag.

[–]wethedownvotedNeoconservative 0 ポイント1 ポイント

i see. it's probably just the author has bought into the whole "30 round mags are only for war" line.

Mostly surplus

Why? To give us more freedom!

"Fact" part: The reason given is that the amount of money required for the upkeep and maintenance of an armada of mine-resistant vehicles is unjustifiable in the eyes of the military/congressional oversight, so they need to dump these somewhere.

Opinion: Given the fact that our "war" involvement is winding down and DoD budgets are being cut, offloading these vehicles and getting them off the balance sheets is required.......but who do they offload them to? Everyone knows you can't just hand out mine-resistant vehicles to the peasants -- that would go against YEARS of political dogma that the proclaims the power of any citizen resistance to Congressional fatwa should never ever be reinforced! So WHO? Why, that favorite tool of the govt to enforce their insane will upon the sheep! Namely the POLICE! I mean, they're BASICALLY the military anyway. Same Uniforms, same weapons, tanks, FLIR capabilities, all justified to fight some hypothetical "terrorist" threat. http://www.leelofland.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/ar-15govtuseonly.jpg

Ok back to some actual facts: These MRAPs are offloaded to ANY police agency for FREE. All the agency has to do is pay for the transportation cost and its theirs. Which is why you have college police departments having these fucking things. Because it's about ~$6k to get one. Hell, I would buy one if I could. And that's the point. They don't want us to have them. Because you never give the slaves the means to resist you (okay I deviated from some facts at the very end.........)
