I'm all for getting rid of coal and switching to nuclear power. Anyone who is against nuclear power cannot honestly call themselves an environmentalist.

Exactly. I wish it was an option. Can you imagine the EPA saying they were going to green light reactors to replace the coal plants? Not much arguing people could do on either side...

The electric car runs on electricity which may or may not be provided from a coal power plant. I don't think anyone wants to get rid of electricity just certain methods of how it is obtained. I certainly don't buy into the human caused global warming theories. However, if we can obtain things, like electricity, without burning up natural resources, such as coal, oil, ect., I am all for that. We have the technology for solar, wind and more and they are getting better and better, why not just use them?

Why not nuclear?

I am certainly not opposed to nuclear either.

t would take decades to get a new plant working with all the red tape involved.

I really wish people would take this as a serious option.

It's just not that easy. While solar panels don't cause much pollution while generating energy, a lot of energy and rare earth material goes into their production. Due to their cost and low efficiency, as a distributed energy source most homeowners don't see a return on the investment for 7-10 years. Energy storage is also a major hurdle still looking for an economic and ecological solution (hint: batteries are not ecologically sound).

Still, with all this said, solar and other should continue to be integrated into our power portfolio. I'm even getting panel put on my house this fall.

Their car and about every appliance and electronic device in their house.

They want to produce power with hot air and bullshit, both commodities the left has a monopoly on.

Why not nuclear power?

The left and it's tyrannical representative are desperate to enact something pertaining to their global warming religion.

They realize that as time passes it will become ever more obvious that their bullshit claims of doom and destruction due to global warming are not going to happen.

And it is becoming more obvious every day that the general public is realizing it.

So they are forced to act NOW, to do something, even if that something does nothing, because even though that something does nothing they can claim it did and that it saved the world.

And even if you know it did nothing you will be told you are in denial, because they and their lib media said it did.

I love how they say they cured the earth of Acid Rain and repaired the hole in the Ozone Layer. It is like the mechanic who tells you your sphincter valve is bad and he needs $1000 to fix it. Then claims it now runs perfectly. Bunch of snake oil salesmen.

You will soon be faced with having to make the decision to pay your obahmuh care tax, or your obahmuh power bill, neither of which you can afford because of the obahmuh economy.

A lot of old and poor people gonna die too.
They'll need to choose between eating, getting medications, and electricity(heat/ac).

Hopefully this will push innovation in safe nuclear power, and solar power, which are our best alternatives.
