Once upon a time, a guy kept vandalizing a building, causing somebody to constantly pay to repaint the wall, simply so he could feel deep, believing he's an artist by spray painting over stencils.

EDIT: Holy shit, I didn't realize how many people here are defending blatant vandalism. Imagine if you owned a building and had to spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars repainting it, because some kid who felt he was a deep and intellectual "poet" took it upon himself to paint all over the side of your building? How do you find this acceptable at all? Go ahead and call me condescending, it just shows me that a majority of you are either a child, or have maturity of one. When you live in a place that's overrun by graffiti, you'll have an entirely different opinion, especially if it's happening to your property. I'm being condescending for being upset over vandalism, instead of the kid who feels he has the authority and right to vandalism other peoples property in the first place? Get your fucking priorities straight, Reddit.

Seriously, literally anyone could go out, get stencils and do this. The "artist" is just being a jackass. And I say that as someone who appreciates modern art.

[–]whatsinthesocks [score hidden]

I really want the artist to be the person who also repaints the wall.

[–]jhc1415 [score hidden]

I actually feel like it probably was. What if the owner realized that painting over it was part of the plan? Why should they paint over it if the artist would have to do it himself to actually tell his story?

[–]pandasexual [score hidden]

So that he keeps getting paid to repaint the wall he vandalizes? 10/10 World's Best Scam.

[–]HOMESCHOOLED_BASTERD [score hidden]

I actually thought that that is what was happening.

It isn't even like the prose is good.

[–]DrPopular [score hidden]

Modern art = "I coulda done that" + "Yeah, but you didn't."

[–]ninjette847 [score hidden]

Not true but I'm not getting in a discussion about it.

[–]MegaHydraulicOctopus [score hidden]

I DISAGREE BUT REFUSE TO ENGAGE IN A DEBATE TO SUPPORT MY OPINION.

CONVERSATION OVER, I WIN.

[–]Sunnythe14 [score hidden]

This guy appreciates modern art! We should definitely agree with him

[–]ninjette847 [score hidden]

No, I'm just saying that I'm not saying that because "bah all modern art can be done by a toddler", this specific piece anyone could do.

[–]EnragedFetus [score hidden]

its not even a building, its a wall to the yard of an apartment complex, that separates it from the alley.

also cool fact: only Jerome street E1 in all of the world according to google.

[–]wacoede [score hidden]

that's because the name of the street is Jerome Street. The "E1" is the start of the Postcode for that area this type of street sign is common in London not so much in the rest of the UK

[–]Raginbum [score hidden]

That doesn't make it any better, its still graffiti, on property, that has to be repainted, using money (and paint... mostly paint).

[–]JNS_KIP [score hidden]

you certainly are a white knight

[–]Nick700 [score hidden]

Not defending the stenciler, but the only thing he cost the building owner is his time. He used different paint each time, he definitely wasn't buying it. Just using some old paint lying around. Even if he did, how the hell would it cost over $1000

[–]fdsdfg [score hidden]

That makes no sense.

      Doesn't change shit.

You're fucking dumb kid, go back to telling your English 2 teacher how you are so deep but have trouble expressing it in written word.

You went from trying to be condescending, to out-right being a dick.

        [–]GeneralLeeAwesome -2 ポイント-1 ポイント

Maybe it's just the way you deliver your opinion

        [–]IAmAMagicLion -1 ポイント0 ポイント

And if I carve it into bystanders skulls? Is it okay because "it's just the way I deliver my opinion".

Vandalising others property to shove you self validating opinion on people is not okay.

EDIT: I see the person to whom /u/GeneralLeeAwesome replied has deleted their comment. For context, I am not them.

        [–]GeneralLeeAwesome -4 ポイント-3 ポイント

I don't get why you're making the assumption that this guy's motive is just to reaffirm their authority to do this shit, the guy who did this is probably tryna have a bit of fun. If the person painting over the wall felt so strongly about aesthetics, he wouldn't paint a different shade each time.

        [–]IAmAMagicLion 0 ポイント1 ポイント

I'm not the first guy and I'm not assuming anything. I just don't believe labelling a behaviour as a method of delivering an opinion makes it acceptable.

        [–]GeneralLeeAwesome -3 ポイント-2 ポイント

        I didn't delete anything

        [–]phroug2 1 ポイント2 ポイント

no, he's saying the guy who replied to you deleted their comment.

        [–]thisisntbillgates [score hidden]

I wouldn't like having to clean it off my property, but I still think it was an interesting bit of art.

        [–]wensul [score hidden]

        plot twist:

he uses water soluble spray paint.

        IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?

        edit: YES IT IS.

        But will anyone use it?

        no. =/
