At no time did 0bama administration knew what was going on in the VA system. However, we would like you to know how great single payer systems is, good example can be taken if all take a look at our VA system.

The VA system is completely socialized medicine, NOT single payer. Single payer would be like Medicare, and it's very popular among its users.

Those articles all conflate the two. Single payer references the funding aspect. With a single payer system you aren't necessarily going to government doctors, as all of those articles incorrectly assume. Check out the wiki for it, instead of an article pushing an agenda http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-payer_health_care

Single payer is defrauded easily.

Single Payer is where the Government is the healthcare system.

The wait times, shortages, and rationing are all the same.

Single payer is where the government pays for the healthcare costs, but the healthcare can be administered through private, for-profit entities. Single payer can be public-private mix, or it could be entirely public.

Socialized medicine is where the government owns and operates the healthcare system directly.

There's a big difference Let's not conflate these two terms any more than they already are.

The Government does not own the VA?

I was solely replying to your claim that "Single payer is where the Government is the healthcare system". I believe I have already given you the reasoning why your statement is misleading.

Had you said, "Socialized medicine is where the government is the healthcare system", I would have agreed with you since that would be true.

"It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

[–]chabanaisFortis est veritas[S] -2 ポイント-1 ポイント

So the Government does not own the VA and they do not provide healthcare?

[–]Brangus 2 ポイント3 ポイント

I think you know the answer to that question.

Regardless, it's irrelevant - you made a statement concerning the definition and/or usage of a term. I corrected you on that.

Nope, it's just like Single Payer.

Cheers.

Please don't let those pesky facts get in the way of your patriotic right to have an opinion.

A square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't necessarily a square. Socialized medicine is single payer, but single payer isn't necessarily socialized medicine.

To irresponsibly claim that single payer is the same as socialized medicine is contributing towards the decline of political discourse in this country.

"Political chaos is connected with the decay of language... one can probably bring about some improvement by starting at the verbal end." -George Orwell.
