Hysterical piece by a hysterical haggus. Opinion pages are where people who only use their conflicted feelings to write scare-mongering propaganda go to live. The New York Times makes good asswipe for the needy. Cherry-picked phrases, "protecting children" and "maybe a stoned skull and bones" and "Does he sound paranoid?". That shouldn't be the case, either. People have nothing to be ashamed of regardless of their sexual choices so long as it was all done consensually. They shouldn't be shamed for it.

Same for their interest or participation in "nerdy" or "geeky" things.

It's just not necessary, especially in cases like this. There are hundreds of other words you could have used to express the sentiment and this had nothing to do with anything sexual at all. The world is already an ugly enough place, a la Jonah Hill's recent apology.

Well, I never called for taking it as far as PC bullshit. And I personally wasn't even that offended. For one, slut is a choice; plenty of things aren't. This woman isn't one as far as we really know though, just kind of a dumb bitch (based on the tone and content of this article).
