Open Letter To My Doctor

Dear doctor,

every year is the same thing. we tried many different diets without any permanent result. I’m sick of this. I’m learning to accept my body and you should too. I’m healthy, I’m a student. I’m an athlete, I have a job, I don’t have more time to waste for this. I tried to explain to you, but you had only one thing in mind: a new kind of diet.

Now, I still don’t have a degree, but I know what you’re talking about and this iperproteic diet is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard. Cutting out all the sugar and carbohydrates (including fruit and most vegetables apparently) is bullshit.
You know what makes the brain work? Sugar. You know what makes muscles work? carbohydrates. And, most important, you know what happens when your body doesn’t receive those things? It starts digesting himself. Muscles first and then the rest.

Now let’s talk about pros and cons of this diet:
Cons: loss of concentration, worse grades, increase of stress levels, and that not talking about all the actual physical damage. Also I’ll probably fail some of my exams, if not all of them.

Pros: I’ll be thinner.

Is being thin really so important in this society? Maybe it is. Maybe I’ll be a second class person for the rest of my life. I don’t know. I don’t care. I have other priorities in my life and, unlike you, dear doctor, I’ll rather get a degree than fit in that dress.

Signed: An angry girl who’s trying to graduate in chemistry and is sick of this bullshit.
