Same with beetles, won't they get squished?

On topic: Spiders should get a new bonus passive ability called "Eeeeek!"
Eeeeek! Your spider continuously emits an aura that fears all female (and some male) players and NPCs that come within 20 yards of the spider. The fear lasts indefinitely while within 20 yards but is reduced to 1 minute after exiting the area of effect. In addition, all affected players are forced to spam varying lengths and varieties of screams, squeals and shrieks in /yell while the effect lasts. |

For me, seeing a spider triggers bestial wrath.

What happens when magic makes the spider massive and strong enough that its organs and exoskeleton don't fail under its weight?. Chances are, the Azeroth spiders exoskeleton is much stronger than an earth spiders exoskeleton, under the condition its one of the varieties that serve as hunter pets and not critters/battle pets.
Beetles are tougher bugs on earth, the magi principle also applies to the azeroth beetle. |

I know very few women who ain't like that. I also know more than a few men that way as well. For many Spinner seems to be right about some mystical aura thing called a phobia. ETA: It's a 50/50 thing for that phobia.

The same reason gnomes can tank dragons 50x their size and not just get eaten in one swallow - no chewing necessary.

You'd be shocked what can actually work even in real life. Look up the coconut crab if you want to be possibly-terrified at how large things with exoskeletons can get. |

Still not up to the "bugs the size of a pony" scale of hunter pets, though. And yes, coconut crabs will make you want to avoid a lot of the islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans. |

My working theory is that WoW has a higher oxygen content in it's atmosphere, allowing for giant insects.

That article mentions birds keeping insects from getting large when oxygen levels got high again, which wow could have, however, the insects could conveniently have gotten large enough to fight the birds. With large insects being easier prey for birds. |

I said it was a working theory :P |

Also, lore wise, the emerald dragon flight magically guided the evolution of nature through the emerald dream, so my "blame magic" idea works, I think. Oxygen could have an impact (and explain why we see mostly meat eating birds).

Hmmm I can count on two females in my house to have that response....they are my wife and daughter. Now my son on the other hand will squish, stomp and pound most...except the three scorpions that were found over the course of 10 years. |

Speaking of spiders....hell even I would scream like a school girl at a Taylor Swift or Justin Bebber concert...
http://cheezburger.com/6181009664 And I can honestly say that the worst thing ever in the South; besides the snow birds and carpet bagger invasion, is walking through trees at night and hitting a spider web that has the strength of steel cables and refuses to break.... The thoughts that run though your Condition Black emotional response is where is the F'ing thing that made that as you beat yourself to death with a 4 D cell mag light trying to kill the beast.

Neat. It honestly doesn't make a difference if your anecdotal experience matches it. Stereotypes, even "harmless" ones like this that "everyone knows are true" completely suck and should be done away with. |
