If individuals with privilege actually tried to keep in mind that they’re opinions are not taken into consideration just because they’re privileged, (white, cis, het, etc.), but because they’re opinions support the status quo and contribute to the oppression and/or systemic discrimination of marginalized people, then they wouldn’t feel the damn need to derail the discussions taking place. 

Shit, all people ask for is a bit of understanding, a bit of empathy, a bit of self-examination. But somehow that shit gets turned into “what do you mean check my privilege! I can’t help the way I was born!”
