I understand what you're saying. You're describing your personal interest in the subreddit and that is fine. There's nothing wrong with wanting some light hearted conversation. However, the women above me are trying to point out that this subreddit is inherently about women's issues. Yes, they got a little harsh about it. But one of the basic women's issues is men telling us what we should think and how we should feel. So your comments, while perhaps not meant this way, come off as you saying, "you're wrong, -this- is how it should be." This attitude is so prevalent against women, or anyone that may be considered a 'lower' social status. This includes situations such as adults not respecting children's feelings, race issues, etc. etc. Just the fact that using the term "lower social status" to make my point about how it makes us feel drives me crazy.

I've had way too many men belittle me and dismiss my opinions because to them it doesn't matter. This subreddit ought to be a place where women can go and be supported, not belittled. That's the point that people are trying to make here. Sometimes it's appropriate to have an opposing view in the mix, sometimes it's not.
