I think that it's tragic that we don't want opposing views here. That's not the sub I joined. As long as it's respectful and thought provoking, I see no problem with people throwing out their ideas and thoughts. In fact, it has the capacity to stop hive mind nonsense and offer us the opportunity to expand our thinking.

I think largely it's less a question of 'no opposinng views allowed' and more 'we should have a space that is not ALL opposing view'. I liked twox before, even as a trans woman. It was nice to come in and read some stuff on periods or boy problems or whatever, rather than multiple 500+ threads a day on the problems of the sub, feminist vs. the world issues, or whatever. Not to mention the threatening PMs people are getting. This is like the fourth thread I've seen on this and I don't even visit daily. This place has been nothing BUT chaotic opposing view wars since the default status change. I enjoy heated debate, I love arguing, I love discussion. I am in fact getting a master's in persuasion. But I am unsure if what is going on now will be positive in the long run, personally. It might be. But for the moment it makes twox much too chaotic for my tastes, when it used to be where I could take a little cool-off time from provoking discussion elsewhere.

It's a question of degree.

After a while, it'll be overrun by a bunch of different views (aka no longer women-centric), and then what? It's purpose is nothing like it used to be.

Opposing views, bring 'em on. When they're meant to be productive, and are expressed in an appropriate manner and in the appropriate threads. It's not like any of the men I'm talking about are creating their OWN threads and inviting discussion. Nope, they're invading TOTALLY unrelated threads and basically saying, "x can't matter until y does and i want to talk about y and if you won't talk about y with me right now and admit that y is just as bad or worse, then you are rejecting men's rights"

That sort of conduct is disruptive. I think it's MEANT to be disruptive.

I think disruptive content is a different kettle of fish and should be treated as such. Ban them from the sub. As a side note, this down voting because we disagree nonsense is going to be one of the things that make me leave this sub. :\

I agree on the downvoting thing. It's pretty easy to see when someone is just genuinely misunderstanding or getting off into the weeds, and if not, usually a couple more rounds of replies is enough to figure it out. For the record, I didn't downvote you. I tried to explain why your comment missed the mark in my opinion, and I hope that was helpful?

Yeah, I liked your post! I like people who counter argue in a logical and respectful manner. I think that's the whole point of a meaningful discussion that allows me to be a better person or atleast more understanding.

    You got that feeling or did you actually verify somehow?

    My opinion is that I disagree. In fact, the majority of what we do here is not 'complaining about men,' whether you see it that way or not. It's venting frustrations about individual men, and addressing general women's issues.

    I can't control the replies in here. And unfortunately, it's a VERY tangly sort of topic. That's why I kept my post confined to one very specific problematic behavior.

    I have also been thinking about making a post addressing the downvote brigading that I've noticed, so on that, I agree.

    Edit: I don't see an issue with the top comment, though...? I had to go look. It's against derailing discussions here, imo, same as my post.

    Folks who fail to meet the rules of our sub should be banned. Our mods need to be more active in keeping this sub friendly and respectful whilst promoting healthy conversations!

    I downvoted you, and here's why:

    What's happening here isn't just disagreement. Every post is now about men, if you read through the comments.

    What's happening to 2X is a complete destruction of the intent of the sub.

    As a side effect, we're downvoting each other when we wouldn't normally, because it's hard to tell what's what anymore. 'What about the men', mansplaining and slurs aren't constructive. They're just not. And that kind of input has overrun the sub at this point.

    Short version: I downvoted you because you're conflating two different things and blaming the community for something that isn't our fault.

    At first I wasn't disappointed by the defaulting, but what this sub has become very male unfriendly ever since. I used to love reading the discussion and all the articles, but now it's all strictly gender wars in here. Large drop in quality. Another echo chamber instead of a actual support group.
