It was a normal subreddit before. Being defaulted did not change this:

Welcome to TwoXChromosomes, a subreddit for thoughtful content - serious or silly - related to gender, and intended for women's perspectives.

All subs have a specific focus, just like r/guns and r/atheist etc. This focus is threatening to some folks. They appear to view discussion of women's issues as inherently dismissive of men's issues. Reddiquette is supposed to honor the communities of each individual sub, thus honoring the whole of Reddit, but that seems to be lost on some folks.

I think its butthurt childishness, but I'm a grumpy old woman.

I regret that I have but one upvote to give.

I agree, I just meant normal in terms of "venturing outside of your normal subreddits" as the commenter I responded to said.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that this sub has become what it has. If it's any consolation, though, as a male I've definitely learned a lot about issues affecting women since this sub became a default that I wouldn't have otherwise. I'm sure there are many more like me, it's just that we can't be as vocal as the trolls.
