To explain, this is a subreddit for the iPhone game clash of clans. The mods of this sub will verify "clans", who's names will be on the list on the sub. The only benefit to this is publicity: my clan was at 5 people before putting the name on the prospective clan list, and we're up to 32 now. My clan is filled with primarily lower level people, and my close friends, who are all fairly high leveled (most clans have a rule of playing for at least 2-3 months, but I like helping out the newer players. You can donate high level troops to them, which are very effective).
Now for the disagreement. Here is their official list of rules: http://www.np.reddit.com/r/ClashOfClans/wiki/official_reddit_clan_system . Out of the blue, I was contacted by the mod regarding our name not being a noun. Since the word is slang, I can understand the confusion, but it is most certainly a noun. After explaining this, he decided it was derogatory. I brought up clans like Reddit Whiskey and Reddit Yankees, which he said were grandfathered in from an older system. They went on to say if hey let us in, it would set a precedent, similar to the ones they have already set with those other two clan names (not that I see anything wrong with them, but because they too are completely harmless). The reasons we don't just change the name is we would lose all of our stats that we've gotten so far.
All in all, I have a huge issue with he moderators pulling this stance over a subreddit for an iPhone game, it's the smallest amount of power I've ever seen spark a power trip. If you are playing clash of clans and consider yourself to be anything but a casual, well, I'd reevaluate.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
