I decided to pick this picture because I am holding one of my favorite guitars and I really liked the confident, sexy mood I was having the day the picture was taken. I have been severely depressed and self-conscious/self-loathing for many years. I literally don’t believe I would have made it this far in my life without music… without being able to play my guitar. It’s difficult for me to see myself as beautiful 75% of the time - mostly because of body dysphoria and also because of pretty significant PTSD from my childhood. So whenever I do see myself as beautiful, it is such a wonderful feeling :).

For a very long time I didn’t dress the way I wanted to because I felt I wasn’t cool enough to deserve to look good. But now I’m actually dressing the way I like and then I take pictures of myself because I’m in awe of how truthful it looks. I’m becoming the person I didn’t even dare to dream of being when I was younger.
