So...Japanese Product intended for overseas consumption = You rape the tentacles, now? Japan gets weirder by the day. Don't worry, that's part of why we love you, Japan.

In Soviet Russia you rape tentacle. What a country!

I get exhausted hearing people say shit like this... if people were constantly taking the weirdest crap from America out of context and pretending like it was a national pastime then it wouldn't seem any less strange. I spent some time in Japan this spring and didn't really see anything remotely like this or any of the other "weird" stuff that reddit likes to portray as the norm. Yeah, it's there, but it's not everywhere like people pretend they know it to be.

You seem unfamiliar with the "Muricah, FUCK YEAH!" meme, which ironically is a parody of the nationalism and unwarranted/unquestioning support many Americans tend to give Uncle Sam.

If you get exhausted of hearing people crack sarcastic jokes on the Net, you're going to have a bad time on the Net. Get over yourself, anyone with two licks of sense knows that Japan isn't a nation made up of Samurai, Ninja's and pristine schoolgirls in seera fuku, overrun by tentacle monsters. And the ones that do actually think that way, don't matter.

"Japan gets weirder by the day" were your exact words. Maybe you were being sarcastic, or maybe just trying to be funny on the internet, but either way that was a pretty cut and dry statement about your particular opinion of their country. Every place is fucking weird in it's own way, there's no need to keep perpetuating the stereotype. And honestly, you need to get the fuck over yourself if I may be so blunt. You were mimicking the hivemind's go to easy joke and got called out on it. There's no need to try spinning it around on anyone else. Honestly, yes - I shouldn't care, but it's the same lame crap repeated over and over that makes reddit a little bit worse every time someone does it.

Here's a newsflash. If you don't like hearing what people have to say, you always have the option to ignore it. Nobody's forcing you to listen to it. Frankly, you seem to be the only one here with an issue in regards to the joke.

I'm not even going to ask permission to be blunt, I'll tell you straight up. Every place makes politically incorrect jokes about other countries. Or perhaps you're unaware of how the Japanese treat Americans in their media? I don't see you ranting about the "Racist" portrayals of African Americans in Bobobo-bo Bobo-bo, or even in the more laid-back series (Tina the American as a blonde, drunkard, oversexed, buxom babe in Ai Yori Aoshii, anyone?), so yes, I'm calling you out on your selective outrage.

Your exact words were, "I get exhausted hearing people say shit like this..." Well, so fucking what? You're offended, what are we supposed to do, surrender to the Feelings Police and take our probation of Politically Correct Classes like a man, just because some random redditor happened to have their feelings hurt? I'll say it again, get over yourself. I'm at least willing to admit it goes both ways, but yet at the slightest hint of something that offends your Social Justice Warrior sensibilities, you go on an Internet Feelings Police campaign.

And here's a little beacon of truth for you. The "Japan is a strange, strange land." joke predates Reddit by several years, possibly even the internet, itself. It's not just folks on Reddit that have been saying it. So get off your moral high horse of "Stop liking what I don't like!" because it looks like you're the only one speaking up in protest of the joke. On top of that, it's not even a Reddit-centric issue, yet you're the one making it such.

In the end, if you're really that offended, you always have the choice to turn and walk away...

Nobody said anything about anybody's feelings, but you certainly seem to be the one that just wrote a short essay to defend yours. It isn't as much about any moral obligation - it's actually just tiresome to read the same lazy jokes over and over (and over, and over).

I reply because I think it's funny seeing you work yourself into a tizzy over a joke some stranger said on the Net. "Don't like reading the same jokes repetitively? Then, don't." Plain and simple. That's been my entire point from the start, but the logic and reason of that simple idea seem lost on you.
