its his freakn mother..? they should get into a small argument and if the person in question wants freedom they should go get their own place.

We're not talking about whether little jimmy gets to stay out past curfew or not. We're talking about someone denying their child the right to vote. A right that is not theirs to take away.

That's like calling the police on someone for having a gram of weed. It might be acceptable in the eyes of the law, but really it just makes you an asshole. You can't go around suing everyone for petty shit.

[–]Iplaymeinreallife 2 ポイント3 ポイント

Actually, the right to vote is a lot more fundamental than whether or not you have weed.

OP better put his parents in jail!

[–]Iplaymeinreallife 1 ポイント2 ポイント

I don't think the choice is between those two extremes.

He should call that number to invalidate his vote, then explain to them in as plain language as he can that this actually is a federal crime, a violation of his civil rights and a total dickbag thing to do.

Reddit loves to throw people under the bus.

This isn't a decision that a parent can legally or should ever try to make for their child.

This response is the best one. Reporting your own mother for voting fraud is a bit much.

Reporting your own mother for voting fraud is a bit much.

Your mother COMMITTING voter fraud is a bit much.

Not respecting your childs right to fulfill their civic duty is a bit much. Making someone face the consequences for their behavior? Completely acceptable.

Then OP is homeless, without food, and probably has rough relationship witb his/her mother in the future. Yeah, a sit down discussion or argument is absolutely the correct course of action.

[–]Theonesed 0 ポイント1 ポイント

OP clearly already has a rough relationship with their mother as evidence by her actions.

Is a bit much? You're using definitive language in a subjective scenario. As you aren't the supreme being, your opinion is merely that, an opinion.

Pick your battles in life. There's no way anyone can go through life expecting everything to be perfect
