I apologize, I don't mean to derail or whitesplain so I really shouldn't have phrased that so authoritatively :( I've read from black women bloggers that appropriating or joking about twerking is an act of misogynoir because twerking was created by black women, but I shouldn't imply there's a singular "black culture" or that I know anything about it myself.
