What to do when men claim that we MUST solve equality issue elsewhere (in the country, yes, you read that right, they called Africa a country, not a continent, no) because they have it worse than north-american/european women? Yes, they sometimes do, but other than saying "a rape is a rape no matter the country", I don't know how to reply?! Help and btw, your blog is amazing, keep going!
Tell them that it’s not a contest and it’s important to help systemically disenfranchised people EVERYwhere because there are varying degrees of oppression and they are all interwoven with each other in such a way to support the same oppressive system. It helps no one to ignore some or belittle them for being “unimportant”. This image illustrates that concept nicely.
