http://np.reddit.com/r/technology/rising/ shows nothing for me. peoople really are downvoting everything to the river styx.

http://np.reddit.com/r/technology/new/ newest is showing 11hrs ago.

The frontpage newest post is 14hrs old. This has easily surpassed may may june.

Edit: It was just my res settings. posts are still being submitted, just downvoted into hell.

[–]Werner__Herzog 15 ポイント16 ポイント

So, they are actually listening to that guy? But I guess, it's enough if 5 people downvote something, it'll never reach the front page.

Not only that, but the default setting for accounts to not see a post is -4. So almost every post for the last 12hrs is invisible for most.

I expect SRD people have mostly changed their setting because the drama is often much lower. But yep it I meant downvoted to oblvion making it invisible.

due to the hysteria, I bet some people will think the mods are removing posts

so good can't wait for the mod reaction if this keeps up :)

Oh dear, why they gotta drag us into this.

At least Q removed it. Dunno how to feel about that one....

I don't like the idea of 100,000 angry users swarming SRD.

Another one was just posted

removed. This is good for bitcoin.

Be careful. With great copypasta comes great responsibility.

Me either. This must be how some feel about srd when we link them.

[–]Werner__Herzog 3 ポイント4 ポイント

are those clouds moving, or should I go to sleep.

Sleep, it's just a PNG.

Animated .pngs are a thing. Also the file extension at the end of imgur links are irrelevant to the image.

But the butter, man! Think of all the butter!

[–]IAMA_DRUNK_BEAR 13 ポイント14 ポイント

It has been foretold by our greatest of seers, in our most ancient of legends, that there would come such a drama, an argument of such incomprehensible irrelevance, that the very magnitude of its triviality would erupt with a thunderous fury known as The Great Popping, shaking the very foundations of Reddit and unleashing such a tremendous wave of butter that would flood not only the subreddit from which it burst forth but the very halls of SRD itself, destroying all it touched until collapsing into a singularity of enlightened euphoria.

So say we all.

In Poppy's name, amen.

On default setting (most users) it is hidden as spam as it is below the -5 threshold.

How does one make a screenshot look so terrible?

JPG quality set for small files (80). Also, it's JPG, which is not that good for reading text.

I did my duty and mailed their mods.

I included the SRD advice of redirecting to /r/tsunderesharks .

lets just hope the heed it and let things calm down a bit

Edit : I got a reply from the mod saying they were aware. 50 minutes have now past since that reply.

They have not removed the comments calling for a downvote brigade linked in the OP

Possibilities

  • They do not care about /r/technology being vandalised
  • It is a trap so that when they report it to admin, a mass banning of trolls will happen
  • They are worried about "censoring" more content.
  • They are incompetent
  • .. or maybe I have over reacted and this kind of conversation is just hypothetical (even though it is being copy and pasted in multiple threads and the consequences are visible)

I STILL personally prefer redirecting to /r/Braveryjerk over /r/tsunderesharks btw.

I still know I am a reddit novice because I cannot make sense of either.

The rabbit hole only gets deeper, escape while you still can.

It's actually shallower than I ever thought. The number 1000 subreddit only has about 1000 subscribers so you're looking at a rather small pool of actually active subreddits.

Agreed. Don't ruin tsunderesharks :(

Is it even bannable if people lurk the new queue and just downvote?

[–]Goatsac -1

I'd like to know. /r/vegan is heavily downvote brigading my new subreddit.

....why did I just subscribe to that subreddit?

I did my duty and mailed their mods.

That's not popcorn pissing? It is messing with drama. I mean sure people do it as much as they break the Prime Directive on Star Trek, but you're not supposed to admit to it. Flaunting breaking of the rules downvote!

What in the hell am I looking at in that sub?

hmmm I see a ton of new posts.

Weird, must be my res settings. Gonna log out and check.

derp it was my res settings.

[–]Holycity 6

I see 2 new. One is a sticky by the mods. Everything else is 12+ hours old

I think we can intermittently see new posts until they are downvoted and that's the confusion.

[–]Lieutenant_Rans 3 ポイント4 ポイント

The frontpage newest post is 14hrs old. This has easily surpassed may may june.

I'm 50 years old and have a PhD and I want the freedom back!

[–]Holycity 36

Indeed, now that we have targeted ads, im thinking about dedicating $1-$2K/month on targeted ads for the worst offending subs. not sure how much that will get me, but thats my monthly pocket money. more than that i have to start dealing with trust fund lawyers.

I hope this is satire.

He should write the ACLU, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help in this fight against oppression!

He could just give them the money and it would do more good than reddit ads ever would.

The thing is people from many countries around the world are fighting for their basic rights and freedoms. When you have all of these freedoms and rights, you tend to get bored with your monotonous way of life. So you get jealous of it and the end result will be that we get to have the good old slacktivism. People wanting the need to fight the man without the pesky life threatening violence. Got to exercise your, "help, help, I am being oppressed!!!" muscle somehow.

And the amazing thing about all this? You can do all this indoors at the comfort of your couch and bed!

This just popped on the front page of /r/technololgy.

New rule that meta posts will be directed to /r/technologymeta

You know, they might as well called /r/technologymeta /r/technologydrama at this point.

Edit- Currently the new rule post has 4 upvotes, 25 downvotes 11 minutes after being posted.

top comment on that thread is pointing out that other submissions were banned for promoting other subreddits. lol mods.

I think we're going to see that thread become its own post on this subreddit.

It's at -325 now. Buttery!

This is literally /r/atheismpolicy v2.

[–]Aurailious 2

All of this has happened before and it will happen again.

Thank the buttery popcorn gods.

Idk if the admins work on Saturday but there is mass banning of people in the future

They may let it go and put it down to trolling and confusion.

/r/mastercardpriceless is a subreddit of over 200 posts and I did not hear about any banning from the hailcorporate brigade that destroyed it.

Similarly for /r/sxswdoingredditwrong (marketing)

but we dont necessarily hear about mass bannings unless it involves the sensitive people from /r/conspiracy

but there is mass banning of people in the future

That would be an interesting interpretation of the rules, unless the users are not "native" from /r/technology.

[–]Lieutenant_Rans 6 ポイント7 ポイント

I believe the admins did the same thing in the /r/atheism meltdown when users were downvoting everything in /new

There were mass shadowbans in /r/atheism then? Weird, I missed that bit.

"Mass" may not be the best word, I think it was somewhere between 10-15 people doing almost all of the new queue brigading.

[–]Werner__Herzog 0 ポイント1 ポイント

10-15 people

so that's all it takes?

Doesn't take much to keep a post from hitting the sub's front page, especially when the downvotes hit immediately after a link is submitted.

Yes, but they only managed to slow down the downvote "camping" in /new. It lasted many weeks.

Was wondering about that as well... this is the very definition of vote brigading, and the SRD link isn't helping to thwart that

[–]Lieutenant_Rans 10 ポイント11 ポイント

calls for "constructive" brigading here

I believe that anything in the new queue in /r/technology should be redirected to a different subreddit. To combat this effectively you should downvote and politely tell the submitter to post their submission elsewhere. /r/Futurology /r/tech /r/technews

http://np.reddit.com/r/technologymeta/comments/24n9tc/a_meta_problem_needing_to_be_addressed/

Big Waste Management shill confirmed.

That first link. Ugh. That honestduane dude talking about being a martyr and having the admins on his side. One shitty subreddit really matters this much to some people? I think these people just like the drama and attention for being a "martyr" more than they care about the subreddit.

Those people need to turn the computer off for awhile.

I kinda figured people who stop giving a shit about the whole thing after...what has it been...two weeks. But no, people wanna be internet martyrs

(mirror | open source | create your own snapshots)

http://np.reddit.com/r/technology/controversial should be more full if this happens. Also, lower the limit on showing posts in the negative (default is -4, I'm at -100).

I see they're opening: /r/technologymeta and trying redirect discussion there.

[–]Kelsig -1

Subreddit settings dictate when posts are deleted because of net score

Lol /r/atheismpolicy all over again.

Anyone know an alternative to Readability? Send me a PM!

[–]mice_an_dry 1 ポイント2 ポイント

All aboard the USS Orville! This could get buttery!

[–]Dirtybrd 0

Holy shit. This has to be the best example of "the internet is serious business" I have ever seen.

Rosa Parks had nothing on the heroes of /r/technology.

A post got through (for at least 7 minutes now)!
