US to unleash IRS on Russian banks: As the U.S. attempts to punish Russia for its actions in Ukraine, the Treasury Department plans to start using a new tax law to make it more expensive for Russian banks to do business in the U.S. by FerdinandoFalklandin worldnews

Corrected Title: US increases tax retained on Russian investments in US, discouraging Russians from investing in US stocks and bonds.

Way to shoot yourself in the foot; guess they don't need the foreign investment.

Iran Is Offering To Supply Gas To Europe If A Russian Energy Embargo Goes Into Effect by sdfadsfin worldnews

You are dead wrong. Russia uses the USD for lots of energy deals with Europe, India, and Japan. Russia is only recently considering accepting Euros for Gas.

You seem nervous and if you have US dollars you should be.

Iran Is Offering To Supply Gas To Europe If A Russian Energy Embargo Goes Into Effect by sdfadsfin worldnews

[–]bitsprint 2 ポイント3 ポイント

Russia's working on a Oil-for-Goods deal with Iran that I assume scares the US mightily because it circumvents to US dollar's use for energy deals.

I think the US-Iran relationship could be thawing only because even a deal with Iran is preferable to a budding Russia-Iran relationship.

Lonely Netflix takes on Comcast merger all by itself by bitsprintin technology

[–]bitsprint[S] 3 ポイント4 ポイント

Comcast said Netflix simply did not want to bear the costs of the enormous amount of Internet traffic that its subscribers generate.

Sure, that's because it's the ISP's responsibility to deliver the bandwidth to the customer's house.

Netflix already has to pay for content, host content within their own data-centres, and to stream content to the ISP. Tough shit, Comcast, you have to pay for the pipe to the customer's house.

a recent deal brokered by the US could see Tehran eventually re-emerge as a major global supplier at a time when markets are concerned about the reliability of Russia in the wake of the Ukraine crisis.

Woah, have I woken up on another planet where the US works with Iran to encourage energy deals rather than place embargoes against Iranian energy exports?

"Bitcoin is a mad, technoutopian fever dream that will end in tears, if it hasn't already", says Jesse Eisinger, a Pulitzer-winning financial reporter. by _professorcrypto_in Bitcoin

But as a currency, it solves a problem that doesn’t need solving

Jesse is just dead wrong about this;

Bitcoin, being limited in quantity, solves Fiat's problem of being inflated away into nothing, which is accelerating worldwide as we speak.

Bitcoin, being near-instantaneous and smooth to transfer ownership, solves the inflation-resistant Gold and Silver's problem---they are such a pain-in-the-ass to transfer ownership (literally: people put it up their ass smuggling gold into India).

A proposal by UK-based designers calls for tall cylindrical skyscrapers to replace existing train stations that have a large footprint. by blinke1in Futurology

Interesting that a train's kinetic energy could be transformed into potential energy as it rolls upwards into the station.

Then this energy is unlocked as it speeds down and away from the station. This would be the ultimate roller coaster.

Removing net neutrality will have us stuck behind the Great Firewall of America.

This will be used to limit freedom of expression by slowing the bandwidth of those who they want to shut up.

Do you want to have Internet like China or Turkey with state control over data? Because that's where not having Net Neutrality will take us.
