Well tailored suit on a man. Not off the rack but tailored...with a vest. At least 2 for interview and formal occasions. Nice leather shoes, Stacy Adams are good.

For school, wear clean hole free clothes.

No "white is right" like Phil Dunphy

Whatever you feel comfortable in. 3 piece sui it everyday if that's your style.

Don't wear a 3 piece suit to stuff. Especially not to interviews or networking events. You will be "that guy." Trust me you don't want to be that guy.

3 piece suit? I can't tell if you're trollin' or have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

There's no reason to wear a vest. Also, a 1L doesn't need two suits.

I'd disagree with this, if you're going to conferences that are several days long, and seeing all of the same people, its definitely nice to have two jackets, several shirts, a couple ties and a couple pairs of paints available. Also if something stains your first jacket, you have a backup then.

When is a 1L ever going to a several day long conference?

I've gone to several, they're usually free for law students. Exponentially better networking than any event the school will host because there's usually not too many other law students. Doesn't matter if you don't know a lick about what's being discussed. People are impressed that you're there and that leads to opportunities. Hell I've even made actual friends at them.

I've been told several times to never wear a 3-piece to anything career related until several years/decades in. Its a power thing apparently. Could just be my region, but its best not to push against norms when doing so only costs more money anyways.
