Hi, I’m Obsidian Winter, Vice Chair and Head of Events for BABSCon 2014. I’ve been keeping up allot with the situation that was reported on Tumblr about an 11 year old girl who was apparently stalked at our Con and wanted to weigh in with a few things since the story needs some clarifying.
1.)…
Okay, this post is bad. I honestly don’t know how you became vice-chair, but it was probably not for your ability to handle disputes.
A) the only people who “disproved” the harassment at Everfree NW were - wait for it - Bronies who are also currently lying about the situation at BABSCon.
Aaaand that’s where we have to stop you, chum. The people who disproved the harassment claims about Everfree Northwest were the VAs who were allegedly harassed.
You can’t get basic facts like that right, so why should anyone listen to you when you attempt to “prove” the same tired old lies you seem to always resort to in situations like this?
Aaaaaaand that’s where I roll my eyes at your misused snark, pal.
Here’s something I’m gonna teach you, free from me to you, just cuz we’re chums: go stand in a crowded place, like Disneyland, and make snarky comments about someone important walking by, like Sleeping Beauty. Say it at speaking volume, if you want, talk about how hot that character is.
What are the odds that you think that they’re gonna hear you? Probably not very high, right? Because they’re A) professionals doing a job, so they’re focused on where they’re going, what they have to do next, etc. and B) they’re surrounded by their own handlers, who are talking to them; they can’t possibly overhear every conversation going on in the crowd around them.
That means, for example, that someone could hear a dude say ‘nice jugs, Princess!’ and while that person could be a witness to this happening, the Princess wouldn’t know at all, thank God. He might even yell it, and odds are good she might not even know he exists.
The witness at EFNW said she saw just about that exact situation happen; people in the crowd said inappropriate things about/directed at the minor VAs as they were walking by, but thankfully, the VAs had no knowledge of it. From what I recall, the pervs in question were talking to their friends about the VAs. That doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen because the VAs didn’t hear it, it simply means that they were surrounded by a big crowd of people and couldn’t necessarily hear everything going on at once.
If the witness had stated that the VAs were visibly upset by the statements, then your claim that I’m “trying to prove lies” might hold water, chum. Try again next time!
Yes.
Except you claimed harassment, but what you just described, while perhaps distasteful, isn’t harassment.
