Over the years I have attempted to go blonde but I usually gave up/chickened out at the "orange stage". A lot of people do...and I don't blame them...because its so ugly. Panic sinks in and you're racing for the drug store incognito in search of the brown dye.
Finally this winter I decided I was going to do it. If my hair fell out...I didn't care. I was going to bleach until it was blonde...and so I did. Am I having more fun??? I don't know...the verdict is still out on that one.
I definitely don't have more fun with the upkeep of blonde hair. I have to do my roots every 2-3 weeks. Doing it by myself isn't easy. It requires multiple mirrors and at times...contortionist type moves to get it applied evenly. It's pretty cheap to do it yourself but it definitely requires work.
Being a mother of 2 young children I don't exactly find myself on the party scene very often...okay...never. So I can't really compare things in that regard. I can say though...there are slight differences in the every day things.
For example, where I might have felt just "ordinary" before...now I don't. I find people (strangers) will openly smile at me and talk to me now whereas before sometimes I felt like I was wearing an invisible suit. I don't just mean men either. I mean all people. I don't know if it makes me appear more approachable? I can't quite figure it out...but it is different.
I personally like it a lot. So do my kids. My husband on the other hand...prefers my brown hair. I feel a little bad about that part...but I just can't bring myself to change it back to brown just yet...so I guess to make a short story long...I am having too much fun right now...
