I was convinced to leave /r/xkcd because of the links to crazy stuff, but this one is just kind of a circlejerk.

“Circle Jerk” is a slang term referring to the positive feedback loop that can occur when ideas and beliefs are reinforced within a group or subculture’s enclosed space. The phenomenon is typically observed on websites that consists of self-contained forums for specific interests or subcultures.

The problem with this space is that the movement away from /r/xkcd is causing half the posts here to be about the subreddit itself rather than the comic.

A subreddit created to replace another is going to have some discussion about the subreddit it is trying to replace; that's normal. It might be a bit much now, sure - I don't disagree with you there. I do think that some of that discussion is helpful to the growth of this subreddit, however.

There are a lot of posts about THIS subreddit (which is what I said) reposts, barely-relevant questions, etc.

The problem may be smaller than you think, is all I'm saying.
