How many people do you think want socialized healthcare? I'll bet it's a minority. The truth is that it is not dependent upon what the people want anymore, it is dependent upon what the politicians and bureaucrats want that is put in place these days.

How many people do you think want socialized healthcare? I'll bet it's a minority.

Well, I'd say that the 16% of Americans that rely on Medicare are pretty supportive of socialized healthcare, and that several polls over the last few years--in which 50-60% of Americans stated that they'd prefer to keep funding Medicare--confirm that a majority of Americans favor socialized healthcare.

The truth is that it is not dependent upon what the people want anymore, it is dependent upon what the politicians and bureaucrats want that is put in place these days.

I think it's mostly our plutocrats' preferences that decide modern policy. I mean, can any of us really remember the last time the government did anything that went completely against the will of America's wealthy oligarchs? Even when our corporate criminals destabilized the entire world economy back in 2008 with their bullshit lending schemes, all they got was a little slap on the wrist in the form of a fine that paled in comparison to the immense profits they reaped by cheating the American people.

You're right to argue that the majority of Americans have very little influence in politics, but you're wrong in assuming that it's the government itself that has the power; they're just puppets put in place to make us all think that our democracy hasn't already been completely bought off by a handful of billionaires...
