I didn’t know there were twenty thousand vegans on tumblr!!!
You can be against animal cruelty and not a vegan
^^^^^^
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH PEOPLE WHO JUSTIFY MORALLY INCONSISTENT BEHAVIOUR WITH “JUST BECAUSE I EAT ANIMALS DOESN’T MEAN I SUPPORT ANIMAL CRUELTY!”
really? so you don’t even see the slightest objection to consuming a dead, once-sentient creature who was most likely treated very badly, and in any case, instrumentally, because…because why? because you didn’t do it ‘directly’? because you ‘love’ animals? If someone was rearing me up for slaughter I’d be fucking scared of them tbh…imagine my captor saying ‘but I love you I don’t want to hurt you…i’ll let you live a full and free-range life before I have you for dinner’… imagine if my eggs were taken for someone else to use up but people just argued ‘oh well, she was put under a general anaesthetic so she didn’t feel pain’ or ‘she’s too cognitively vacuous to understand what’s happening to her’ some other crap like that to excuse the fact that i was taken advantage of in a defenseless and vulnerable position…that’s fucking disturbing
plz come up with a better argument, people who are ‘against’ animal cruelty but also against veganism? veganism IS compassion, it IS against animal cruelty. you can’t be both against and not against animal cruelty. and it’s not good enough to be sometimes against it. Nothing wrong with admitting that there are limitations to making such paradoxical claims.
honestly, there’s nothing i can do about people supporting the instrumental use and exploitation of animals, people are obviously free to go ahead and do that, but it’s just idle to feel the need to claim ‘But ALSO I AM AGAINST ANIMAL CRUELTY’. Why do people even say that? People tell off vegans for being ‘snooty’, but if anything, it sounds like non-vegans have the most saturated list of excuses ready to elevate their decisions to some moral high ground? Does that help you sleep better at night or something
