Authorities in Manila, Phillipines, cracked down on a mail-order bride ring, rescuing 29 women, some as young as 16 years old from being married off to South Korean men. These women are told the brokered money will go to their families, but in most cases the ringleaders keep all of the profit, and these women are forced into abusive marriages. Chief Superintendent Reginald Villasanta, executive director of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, says the suspects will be charged with violating the human trafficking law, which carries a 20-year prison term, and another law that prohibits mail-order brides, punishable by six years in prison.

THE POLICE DO THE TRAFFICKING. When a story of a bust comes out, it’s either a total lie, or the cops just stopped a ring to stomp out competition. My guess (if the story is even partly true): the cops took what money they could, raped a few themselves, and delivered the women to some buddies.
