New conservative here, so bear with me! So the argument we're using here is that if corporate giants like the Koch Bros. (Read: heroes) legally bribe their way around regulations, the only clear answer is to shrink the government, do away with said regulations, so that the Koch's still don't have to follow, but we save them money?

I have liberal friends coming over and I need to figure out how to make them see that a large powerful group that is voted on and monitored by checks and balances clearly is more evil than a large and powerful group that is held to no standards and whose only goal is to increase profits!

And yet you fall into the rhetoric that "maximizing profits" is wrong. When Americans buy fuel efficient vehicles, use coupons at the grocers, and shop around for the best deals on electronics, does that make them as bad as most corporations who work to decrease expenditure costs and keep as much cash in hand?

As far as the checks and balances go, government oversight was officially ended when Obama was "allowed" to modify a law, that was already enacted, without approval from congress.

A system cannot thrive while both the private sector and the government are powerful. What happens every time is that they join together against everyone's interests. Now obviously a central planned economy doesn't work, so we need a strong private sector. .

Corporate money in politics was very small until Teddy Roosevelt's trust busting killing spree. Before that, most political donations were given based on locality and religion.

Not the correct use of this meme, but a good point nonetheless.

YES! SOMEONE ELSE GETS IT!

How does that rationalize the supreme court decision?

[–]blatherskiterReagan Conservative 7 ポイント8 ポイント

It doesn't. The first amendment does.
