Stolen From Africa

The Basenji is the dog of Africa! They are strong, intelligent, independent, and choose not to express themselves by barking. Basenjis were stolen from the people of the Congo and shipped to England in 1937, and were brought to America in 1941.

In Africa, they were used to hunt lions and game. I can’t really blame white people for becoming smitten with this breed because she’s much more skilled than most white breeds.

Just compare the Basenji to any of them, and you’ll see it’s clearly the superior dog. Retrievers could retrieve, sight hounds could chase by sight, scent hounds trailed with their noses, and guard dogs protected the village. But the Basenji tracked with both scent and sight, could guard from lions, and can be trained to retrieve.

Besenjis are also the oldest dog breed in the world and are a huge part of many African cultures, including ancient Egyptian culture. Try as you might, white people, but Labradors will never be as cultured or as useful as the real dog of Africa. That’s why you had to have it for yourself. Pic is of a Basenji in her natural habitat, with her real people and her puppies. image
