Shota's back with new Stoneybatter street art

Remember Shota Kotake and his controversial street art on Stoneybatter's Manor Place last year? Well the Japanese artist promised he'd be back with new work at the same spot - and this weird and wonderful comic strip went up last weekend. However, Shota is again fighting protests from residents to take the installation down and so is looking for a new home for his work.

Here's what he has to say about the latest piece: "For this time, I made this installation to simply celebrate President Higgins' historic state visit to UK and St Patrick's day at the same time.  I planned to leave them up to the dates of the state visit which will be on 8th to 10th April, however they will most likely be taken down by the time viewers read this article.

"I learned a lot from the last installation which was taken down because of a complaint made by a local resident (Stoneybatterers may know who that resident could be) through gardai and my landlord. So for this time, I chose something softer and lighthearted, but a complaint was made by a local resident again and I have to take it down again.

"Also I'd like to use this opportunity to ask anyone who owns a wall like mine and could possibly adopt this or future installations to get in touch."

The Bono-like figure on top of the chimney has since been knocked down by winds and has been replaced with a 'Mr Pox is out of order' sign.
