Tsarevna Alena and Kiryl/Cristo/whatever-the-heck-his-name-is, from Dragon Quest IV.

Unoriginal picture is unoriginal. I wasn't really trying to imitate Akira Toriyama's coloring style, but I think I kind of did anyway? DDD: Oh, and the background fails at life. I got lazy. :/

Photoshop and Corel Painter IX.
Dragon Quest IV belongs to Square-Enix.

Those two are my favorite characters from the game. I originally played Dragon Warrior IV on the NES (and still own the game). Great drawing.

Thank you! :3 It's great to hear from someone else who's played the NES version. I played it when I was younger, and I've been nostalgic for it ever since. (I somehow managed to misplace the actual game cartridge right before I got to the end, so I've spent the last, like, 12 years wishing I could find it. XD I was so happy when it came out for the DS.) Alena and Kiryl are definitely among my favorite characters too. <3

I ended up only buying it semi-recently (within the last ten years) when I was still in college. Went to GameStop and saw it in a bin of NES games. It cost me $35 but I thought it was worth it. The funny thing is that the reason I wanted to play it so bad for years was from coverage out of one of my old issues of Nintendo Power. It sounded like such a cool game. The drawback to having bought the NES cartridge was that it's kinda on the fritz. Dunno if it's my NES itself (being that I bought that baby in November of 1987) or the game. I was only able to play it for so long before it kinda... died. I had to play the rest of the game via emulator (which I totally didn't feel bad about, seeing as I bought the actual cart the legit way). When the rerelease came out, knew I had to try it. Still prefer the original NES version over the DS.

Wow, that is cool! I didn't know you could still find it for sale anymore. I think I got my copy of the NES version used at GameStop back when it was still called Funcoland, and then I was bummed out when I lost it because I couldn't find another one. D:

True, I think having actually bought the game justifies playing it by emulator (and if it doesn't, it should). A lot of my old NES games/systems don't work anymore, either. It's quite sad. :<

I think I also like the NES version better, but it was awesome to be able to play it again on the DS. :3

It may have been called Funcoland back then. I don't remember anymore. I'm pretty sure I bought it about 2001, 2002 so my second or third year of college. I dunno if they still sell old NES game anymore though.

Yeah, I forget when they changed their name, too. D: It seems like there used to be all these video game stores when I was younger, and one by one they all just got assimilated into GameStop. XD I've seen some older games for sale there, but the availability seems to vary depending on the store, and I haven't seen any NES ones in a while, now that I think of it.

I'm a moron who forgot to comment on this. ^^;

Although it's simple, I really like the background. It's foggy and pretty. ^_^

Nah, it doesn't look like a style copy, it just looks like a nice little doodle.

Cool, I was hoping it wouldn't look too copied-like. XD Thanks!
