The teenage suspect in the grisly rape-murder of a teenage girl is taken in for questioning at a police station in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province on Wednesday.

A 19-year-old high school dropout has been arrested for the grotesque rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl. Police in Gyeonggi Province said Wednesday they are investigating the suspect identified by his surname Sim on charges of raping and murdering the girl at a motel on Monday night and cutting up her corpse to evade capture.

Sim allegedly checked into the motel on Monday morning with a 19-year-old male friend. Later that day, he sent a text message to the girl, who he met on a blind date a month ago, asking to meet her. Sim then purchased box cutters at a stationery store, telling police later that he intended to use them to coerce the girl into having sex with him.

Sim raped the girl after his male friend left the motel room. When she threatened to call the police, he strangled her to death, according to police. Then he went about the grisly task of dismembering the girl's body over the next 10 hours.

The boy turned himself in to police after the girl's parents filed a missing person report, launching a massive search. The girl had been living alone in Korea while her parents resided in Singapore, and had apparently dropped out of high school last year. Sim told reporters that he "watched slasher films and studied anatomy on the Internet."

Sim dropped out of high school in 2011 and had been waiting tables part-time in a coffee shop in Seongnam.
