As it became known today, the 2010 Olympic bronze medalist Daisuke Takahashi of Japan has withdrawn from the 2013 ISU Grand Prix Final due to bone bruise.

“During my practice, I felt a pain in the right leg. I had it thoroughly examined and was diagnosed with shin bone intusion (bone bruise). I was told that I need two weeks of treatment period and I’m taking some rest off the ice now.” Kansai University Skating club’s website quotes Takahashi.

“There are no skaters who don’t feel anxious about not being able to practice. However, I believe it’s up to myself to either keep my spirit up or to drive myself into a corner,” he continued.

“I will try to take this positively, to face up to the situation and to do what I can with a help from all my staff. I apologize to all those who support me, the skating community, the sponsors, the media and everyone who are looking forward to seeing the Grand Prix Final. I’m sorry that I can’t show my performances at the Grand Prix Final. I will concentrate on getting better now and hope to skate in front of everyone soon.” 2010 World champion added.

In this season, Takahashi was fourth at the 2013 Skate America before winning the 2013 NHK Trophy, getting there a personal best score of 95.55 points for the short program. In GP Final he will be replaced by compatriot Nobunari Oda.

The Grand Prix Final will be held in Fukuoka, Japan from 5–8 December 2013.
