How to disable neo groups and revert to classic?

It seems Yahoo just can't leave well enough alone. Just like they did with our Email accounts, they have "improved" our Groups. I would love to get my classic email back, and the classic groups. Any chance of that happening?

Another issue is with files with apostrophes - and when I found questions about this, they had been removed as violating community guidelines!

Short answer: you can't revert, at least not yet.

One potential workaround: many of the initial 'victims' of the neo rollout were owners and moderators. If you set up a new account in your own name (with mod permissions set to the highest level you can set), and then log into that account, you should be able to log into the 'old' version -- at least for now.

There is some intense discussion of this topic on the Group Managers Forum.

Is that what it's called? "NEO?"
    It's a mess!
It takes a long time for the main topics page to load [I keep having to click on "refresh" ] and then when I click on a post it just spins and spins and never shows the actual post.

Right now I can only see posts via Digest, but when there are a lot of long messages, it's cut off, so I don't get to see them all.
And I can't see them when I go to the loop page.

I want to opt out of this so-called "improved" look and go back to classic view.
    How to do that?

Okay, after reading complaints here and elsewhere, I had to put my two cents somewhere.

When I logged in today and saw this Neo crap, I was so pissed. I searched and searched for a work around other than me creating another account and found none, so I don't have an actual answer to your question. I wish I did, because I more or less am with everyone else and HATE this 'improvement.'

It's harder to read and use, when it comes to the messages. Where the hell are the archives?? Nobody seems to be mentioning that much. The archives were the best freaking part of the whole thing! And now it's just a continuous scroll down? I got used to that in my mail, but to not have the archives?? Come on! Major fail. It makes it harder to read, search, and just generally use. Scroll down does not work in Groups! Oh, and don't even get me started on how our descriptions are gone, as well as the main picture. You have to search for those things. That does not help people interested in the groups, does it? It turns them off, I know it turned me off, and I am a co-owner!

Oh and then when you click on Groups from the main Yahoo page and your groups are off to the side, with no recent activity and a mass of 'featured groups' bogging the page down? Fail. Again, having each group lined up with the most recent activity there, was a great feature. I don't give a crap about the featured groups either. That is just spam to me. If I wanted to search for such things I would search.

Oh, and back to the searching. Sucks. I liked having that little box that you could search by posting number if I needed to. I actually used that quite often, as well as falling back on the archives, thank you.

And what's this I hear about links to other websites not working? Not cool.

There are a couple things I like about this new format, believe it or not.

One is, and most importantly is, not having those odd symbols in the posts anymore. Ya know the $%@ symbols where the ' in words used to be. Like, okay, if we wrote That's in the subect line/post the ' would be overtaken with symbols and make the scenes harder to read. I HATED that. It came from apparently if a member copied and pasted their reply from Word or Google Drive-the sites were not using the same technology so we would get all those weird symbols in our posts. Since my group is a writing group, this was a constant and annoying problem over the years. It appears as if that problem is gone. For which I am grateful. It was a major headache. Major major. Even after years of occurance.

Two is, I like how my membership and the management sections are set up. It's cleaner. When it comes to looking at the list of members it's nicer, as well as when it comes to changing their preferences. I love being able to click on their email and that box pops up. The Activiy Log is easier to read, too.

But, even with not having those symbols in our posts anymore, which is awesome, and even with liking how the management is set up, I would exchange it all, I would even accept having those symbols back if it meant I could have the archives back. And the old search function back.

Hey, if one can mesh what is good about this Neo version in with what was awesome about the old, I would be in heaven, but if one can't or won't do that, then please for the love of God, bring back the old!

The archives and search functions were/are just too damn important.

I am suggesting that people forget about yahoo all together and go to one of these other places.

the new neo is going to be the new look for yahoo groups, you will find that it doesn't work all that well too, I am suggesting that people leave yahoo groups all together and go to someplace else, I have found 2 places that you might be able to re make your groups, you might be able to find some place better for now this is the best I can do.

    1. google groups- https://groups.google.com

2.deviantart- http://www.deviantart.com/- I put this one last because i am not sure some hard core stuff would be allowed, though I can't be sure either way. but this place is like yahoo groups was but it is much easier to communicate with each other, I would suggest this one

but if you must use yahoo, I found that IE 10 is the best that can work with it, and saying that it is the best is saying that it some times works and some times doesn't, so it is up to you.

I wish I knew. I read a message in a group, hit reply, type my reply, hit submit......and nothing. I get a message in my email box "Unable to deliver your message" "You can only send plain text messages to this group. HTML or
    other formats are not allowed."
It is their own d*** box on their own d*** site. It should work.

I dug in the yahoo groups forums. I TRIED to phone customer service, but Surprise, Surprise.....they were too busy to answer the phone. It is about time to fire whoever came up with this stupid idea.

What's worse is there is no support other than what us fellow NEO victims have discovered. Even customer support (if you can reach them) disallows there is such a thing. There is ZERO help from them and no indication that they even notice the mass of complaints on things that literally do not work at all.

    http://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/209451…

That's my attempt to get through to them.

I despise NEO!! I own several groups, one being a very active group. And I swear, the NEW format is SOOO unintuitive!! All members are totally lost now. We can't find files that were created from years ago. What a disaster! We are trying to look into moving OUT of Yahoo Groups now, and possible to another site.

As Robert said, you can't revert, but you can side-step it by using or creating a new account. At least until Yahoo gets around to throwing more users into the "neo" test.

On Yahoo Groups feedback page there are well over 40,000 votes against the new 'neo format and a whole 56 in favour...

    http://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/209451

I guess we will see just how much, or how little yahoo REALLY cares about it's users...

That isn't possible. Yahoo is redesigning groups to a new look.
