I spent this past weekend in Orlando, adding photos to my Checked In series at Megacon. Despite a few hiccups, I got to meet some really great women and came away with some really fun photos! THANK YOU to everyone who followed through and welcomed me into their hotel rooms to shoot; and a special thanks to my sister Ellen for assisting me on Saturday!

My grandmother.
I have one grandmother still living. Her name is Shirley.
She survived the Great Depression, breast cancer, a brain tumor, and the loss of a husband so wonderful, he puts men to shame even after passing. She is a WWII veteran. She is extremely witty, even in her old age, and she regularly uses words that drive me to a dictionary. She is the great-granddaughter of a Cherokee woman, and a Daughter of the American Revolution. She loves to read, especially crime novels.
She still has a brilliant smile…
