Hello,

We've been happily running our own vanilla minecraft server for years, but recently decided to change over to a hosted service on Multiplay after a 5 month break from the game. Now we've set up our profiles and have everything running great, but we've run into a snag with the 1.6.2 update and the new resource packs: We can't figure out how to get the server use the new resource packs and download them to the players. The old method no longer seems to work, for a reason we have not yet figured out.

This is what we've discovered:
  • simply adding the line "texture-pack=some direct download location" (no quotes) will not prompt the user to download and use the resource pack. Nothing happens. The resource pack in question is Good morning craft 4.7 and is compatible with 1.6.2.

  • version 1.5.2 will ask the user to download a compatible texture pack (that is under the old format), but will fail and not download anything when the player accepts.

  • We've tried multiple variations of the direct access link (on dropbox, in a public folder), but cannot even get the server to prompt the user for a download.
The relevant section in our server.properties file looks this:

Quote

# Whitelist - Allows only specified users to join the server.
# This is minecraft's "private server" feature; use this to protect your server from outsiders.
# true  - Only those you allow will be allowed on your server.
# false - Anyone can join.
white-list=true

# Maximum Build Height
# Default: 256
max-build-height=256
texture-pack=https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/65007383/GoodMorningCraftv4.7.zip

The download link variations we've tried are (for the sake of trying everything):

Quote

texture-pack=https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/65007383/GoodMorningCraftv4.7.zip

texture-pack=https://www.dropbox.com/s/ozwwl3387rd0zd4/GoodMorningCraftv4.7.zip

texture-pack=https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Public/GoodMorningCraftv4.7.zip?w=AAAL_3Kptb5r5aLyOuM1PLywtZWecnvf0Qx5yGMpSmzbww&dl=1

We were able to successfully use texture packs on our own physical server before the update to 1.6.2 from 1.4.x and the transition to a hosted service. Are we missing something?

Any help is appreciated!

Mojang is leaving server owners in the dark here and have made no announcements on fixing it, as more players leave servers and play single player

Vote up the issue here so mojang makes it a priority, and then we dont have to wait half a year for a fix
https://mojang.atlas...browse/MC-18569

Us server owners are always in the minority, so we have to voice our opinions whenever we can
