While fixing a mod, I noticed that I could actually disable the shaders on a character. It's a some love it and will hate it kind of mod, well I find it quite interesting though. I could also make the whole environment without shaders applied but then the resident evil world will look less creepy and the suspense and dark feel effects will be lost. So, it's just the characters then. Below is some screens of how it will look like for the characters to show up in game without shading applied. It'd be great to get some opinions on this one.
interesting, especially as i work with shaders in blender.
ReplyDeleteshowing just the diffuse texture there would probably give a performance boost on some low end pc's. also it should be possible to bake the specular textures into the diffuse, like older game engines used.
the model wouldn't react to dynamic lights the same but would give more of a detailed 3d look and be more glossy.
I reckon that I should release this mod then lol
Deletei would, and you could, time allowing, release the plain diffuse version above, as well as a baked version.
ReplyDeleteThe plain diffuse version isn't a problem, but the baked version, hmmm never tried that before. I'll see what I can come up with.
Deletein this case it should be pretty straightforward, just experiment with the blend modes in photoshop, gimp etc, and layer the spec over the diffuse. and if there is a emit type texture, for lights or glowing parts of the costumes, that would most likely be an additive blend mode.
Deleteif you get stuck, i could try them for you, although i currently only have the paint.net app but that would suffice for this.
Oh Cool, let you know if I need help, thanks again.
Deleteyou're very welcome.
DeleteWith shaders better.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike lol, I second that!
DeleteShe's cute i'll have to buy this game.;)
ReplyDeleteOMG cute is an understatement lol, she's effing HOT!
