BeBox dual 603 66 MHz

The BeBox contains a wealth of built-in media and I/O hardware. Some of the hardware sets the standard for consumer expectations: An integrated CD-ROM drive, two MIDI ports, stereo audio ports, three infrared control ports, two joystick ports, as well as standard SCSI, parallel, and high-speed serial connectors. In addition, the BeBox sports a GeekPort(tm), a 37-pin connector that provides four additional channels of analog/digital conversion and up to 16 digital paths, thus satisfying the needs of new hardware designers, inventors, and weekend tinkerers. The BeBox is highly expandable and customizable. With three PCI expansion card slots and five ISA card slots, the BeBox is open to a world of standard PC card options for graphics, video, Ethernet networking, and more. Internet TCP/IP capabilities, including World-Wide Web, e-mail, and file transfer are built-in. The BeBox futures parallel multiprocessing which enables the system to obtain superrior speed.in all aspects of computing.There are two modells on the market. The first BeBox dual 603 66 Mhz was introdused in Oktober 1995. This computer was more or less only for developers. The second BeBox dual 603e 133 Mhz was releasde in early September 1996. The BeOS is still only a developer release. Market attack is what I know the first halt of 1997. The up to date OS is now DR8 wich, as JLG said:"We are beginning to furnisch the house". As you will see there is not allot of difference between these BeBoxe's but thanks to the higher clock speed and the double sised internal cache of the PPC 603e the BeBox 133 is more then twise as fast as it's forrunner.

Be Inc. has plans to offer much faster maschines. Like a BeBox quad PPC 604 133 or a quad 604e 200 Mhz or a much faster maschine with the brand new 604e 250 Mhz PPC. That means that a computer would have the speed of 6 to 10 times as it has the BeBox dual 603 66 Mhz. We will see what these wizards invent.

That is right Be had probably plans but they killed the production of the BeBox in early 1997. Of course for a little company as be is. it's the only way to master the first step's. So if Be is successfull - there mabye is a successor to the old blue BeBox.
