Are most - or even all - barbers in Japan women?

I was told that, in barber shops in Japan, all - or most of - the barbers are women. True?

We have 2 categories of barber in Japan.

理容師 is mainly for men. Therefore, most workers are male.

美容師 is mainly for women. Therefore, most workers are female.

    False. Every barber I've been to has been a man, and usually in his 50's-60's. I've usually had women doing the shaving part, though (if you go for the full-service cut).

    Now, for hair stylists, I have no idea, since I don't go to them.

    More than half the hairdressers I've had have been men.
