Japan, Singapore Agree to Enhance Cooperation

Tokyo, May 22 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong agreed at their meeting in Tokyo Wednesday that their countries will enhance cooperation.
Japan and Singapore share the basic values, Abe said at the beginning of their talks. Japan hopes to strengthen relations with Singapore as a partner who can cooperate for peace and security in the Asian region, he said.
Lee responded that Singapore hopes to promote cooperation with Japan in various fields.
In the meeting, Abe explained the outline of Japan's growth strategy to be compiled in June. The two leaders are also believed to have exchanged views on Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade talks and North Korea affairs including the issue of Japanese nationals abducted to the reclusive state.
Singapore is a member of TPP negotiations which Japan plans to join.
