Welcome to Dickinson Square Park

Love Your Park Spring 2013

Love Your Park
Saturday, May 11, 2013
9 am - 12pm

On Saturday, May 11th, in conjunction with the Fairmount Park Conservancy's city-wide Love Your Park Spring Edition event, we'll be doing a big fall cleanup.  And what a Park we have to clean up, indeed.

We have a few tasks that would add some nice touches and ready the park for the busy summer ahead. Feel free to pick up, clean, or take on any and all tasks that you feel necessary.

On May 11th, the primary issue addressed will be general maintenance, and we have many tasks indeed.

The Friends of Dickinson Square Park will participate, and encourage others to help out. We have a specific list of tasks that need to be done complete with instructions, which will be available on Saturday.

Dickinson Square Park is well-used and does require maintenance that the City simply cannot recognize or do as well as the people who live here and actually use the space.  The year-round effort of volunteers is a primary reason of why the park is such a nice and inviting place.

Given the success of past efforts, the FDSP will again spruce up the Park (even though there are no spruce trees growing there), and we need help in the form of manual labor, and a significant amount of it.  This being the case, please alert your neighbors who live on these streets (Fernon, Mountain, etc...) to the FDSP's efforts as well.

Thanks, and we'll see you there with plenty of tools and tasks on hand.

Light breakfast and lunch will be served, too.

See you there!

Dickinson Square Park

Welcome to Dickinson Square Park, one of Philadelphia's great public spaces. Dickinson Square is located in the Pennsport section of South Philadelphia, and provides safe, comfortable and pleasing open space in a densely populated neighborhood.

Dickinson Square Park features several basketball courts, swing sets, jungle gym equipment, and large shade trees on 3 acres of classic turn-of-the-century park design.

Please feel free to visit soon and often. Grab lunch or dinner at one of the nearby shops. Come and see another side of South Philly, and discover that the neighborhood is more than the Italian Market and the Sports Complex.
