Alternative Breaks is hosting a fundraiser for Relay For Life on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Hudsonville Lanes. Your donation gets you two games of bowling & a shoe rental. If you cannot attend but would like to make a donation to the Alternative Breaks Relay For Life team visit the following link and search Alternative Breaks: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/SPageServer?donate=1&pagename=RFL_FY13_TR_event_search&fr_id=47813 This is not only an opportunity to spend a night bowling but most of all an opportunity to raise funds and awareness to help end cancer! For our March Service Saturday we will be working with Kent County Parks by cleaning up a local golf course. This is their spring kick-off event. We will be working outside so make sure to dress appropriately. The site will be providing a cook out lunch for us. Please bring your water bottle and extra food if you have any dietary restrictions. We will meet at 8:00am sharp in front of Java City in the Kirkof Center. We will be done with our work around 2:00pm. Only 20 people can register for this event! Friday, December 9, is the deadline to submit Winter and Spring Break applications! Applications submitted after the deadline will be placed on the waiting list. Orientation for Spring Break has been combined with Incredible Journey, so don’t worry about having missed any events. We look forward to meeting AB participants on January 21, 2012!
Also, don’t forget about payment deadlines (December 9 and February 3)! Keep in mind that we have scholarships, fundraisers, and payment plans to help you afford an AB trip, but you have to let Eric Spencer (ab.gv.finance@gmail.com) know if you are delaying a payment for these reasons.

Our last Service Saturday for 2011 will be held at the amazing one and only Comprenew. Volunteers will be dismantling and disassembling electronic waste (mostly computers) into individual parts to prevent them from ending up in landfill. It’s a great way to hang out with friendly people, gain some service hours, and take out your aggression on inanimate objects! We will meet in front of the Kirkhof Center Lobby Shop on December 3 at 9:45am, carpool to the site, and volunteer until around 4:00pm. We are still accepting Winter Break applications! There are only a few spots left, so get them in as soon as possible! Winter Break applications will be accepted until Thursday, November 17, by 6:00p. The deadline for Spring Break and College of Education applications is Friday, November 18, by 5:00p. Completed applications can be submitted in the Community Service Learning Center in 1110B Kirkhof Center
