Continuous developments of synchrotron radiation facilities have provided new scientific findings in many fundamental and applied research fields. Using the energy tunability, the polarization property, and the pulse characteristics of synchrotron radiation, we can easily elucidate not only the static crystal and electronic structures but also the dynamical structure of materials such as novel magnets and superconductors. In this special edition, we intend to present the current status of these cutting-edge studies and provide researchers with information on the advantages and utility of synchrotron radiation.
