Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev lay hospitalized in serious condition under heavy guard Saturday — apparently in no shape to be interrogated — as investigators tried to establish the motive for the deadly attack and the scope of the plot.

Gov. Quinn tours flood damage as cleanup continues
Gov. Pat Quinn toured flood-damaged areas through the Fox River Valley, as Saturday brought the Chicago area a break from the rain and people continued to clean up. In Plainfield Township in the southwest suburbs, volunteers passed out supplies at Grand Prairie School to those in need, an effort organized by Mokena firefighter Tom Hug and his wife Elizabeth.
