On Saturday March 2 the BRWA Polar Plunge Team jumped into the icy waters of Lake Superior to show our love for BRWA, the Bayfield Area Rec Center, and the Chequamegon Bay area. The Polar Plunge is one of the festivities of the annual Bayfield Winter Festival, and serves as a fundraiser for the Bayfield Area Recreation Center, and other non-profit organizations.
This was the first year that BRWA participated in the plunge, and with the combined contributions of dozens of supporters, the BRWA team brought in over $1,300 for our organization! Money raised at this event will be put towards staff development and training. The BRWA team had seven members, and the group sure had a blast! The BRWA team was even awarded the Best Team Costume, with one goofy looking water bug and a team of volunteer water samplers ready with their nets to catch it and any other aquatic invertebrates that they may come across.
