We have talked that Fioricet is actually a combination of ingredients called Butalbital, paracetamol, caffeine and sometimes codeine. We have explained the actually effects of Butalbital in rather detail since it is the main active ingredient of this medicine. However, in this article we will now try to explain to you what other active ingredients in this drug are, we will now talk about each of them separately and try to explain what they are and what they do.

• Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen (or abbreviated APAP) is considered a wide use, no prescription needed analgesic (pain relief), and antipyretic (lowers the body temperature, in fevers). He is often used to battle pains in head and other smaller pains; it is also the main ingredient in many numerous drugs against flu and cold. When combined with some stronger analgesics, it can also be used to manage stronger pains, like post operation pain, or to give palliative care with patients who have advanced stages of cancers. Its analgesic affects starts approximately eleven minutes after being orally administered, it has a half-life of  one to four hours. It is considered, in general, safe to consume in recommended doses (one gram per dosage and going to three grams daily for adults), acute overdose of this drug can induce a deadly liver failure,  and in extreme cases a standard dosage can have the same effects. This risk is further increased by consuming alcohol. The toxicity of paracetamol is another cause to standard insufficiency of the liver in some countries. Paracetamol is an product of metabolizing  phenacetine, which used to be a popular antipyretic and analgesic. Unlike fenacetine and its variations , this drug is not thought to be the cause of cancer in its therapeutic doses. In different countries different names are used, in America, it is commonly referred to as acetaminophen while in most European countries the term paracetamol is most commonly used, it is also sometimes referred to as APAP.
• Caffeine (or trimetilxantin, theine, matheine, guanine and metiloteobromine) is a natural alkaloid that is gained from coffee beans, tea leafs and cocoa beans. It is added to some artificial drinks (like Coca Cola). Caffeine is one of the natural psych stimulating substances that affect the central nervous system. It was first discovered in 1819, and has been in wide use ever since.  It has many positive benefits, but is also known to be addictive. If used in normal dosages it is very good for regular function of heart and cardiovascular systems. This is why it is a valuable component of this drug because it ensured the proper function of the blood vessels especially those to the head.
• Codeine is a naturel isomer of methyl morphine, and an opiate that is used in modern medicine as an analgesic and antidiuretic. Codeine is a second most dominate opium, among opium’s. It can most commonly be found in Iranian herb called Papaver Bractreatum. It is considered to be a drug of second class. It is commonly used to relieve pain.
