Who is Suraj

 

This is the story of Suraj, a young boy from the slums of Mumbai who wants to be a great cricket star. Suraj is a fast, agile and a bowler par excellence. 

 

The first Japan/India collaborated TV animation “Suraj, the Rising Star is a coming of age story of a spirited boy who struggles out of his life in the slums to become a legendary cricket player. The story is an inspiring adaptation based on Japan’s classic masterpiece animation “Star of The Giants” – an adaptation from Japanese soul sports “Baseball” into Indian “Cricket”. The first Japan/India collaborated TV animation which will embark a symbolic feature of the 60th anniversary of Japan/India friendship.

 

 

The show has been executed and initiated with combined efforts from KODANSHA, TMS ENntertainment, Colors (Viacom 18), & DQ Entertainment. Presented by Maruti Suzuki the program is also supported by All Nippon Airways(ANA), Kokuyo Camlin, Nissin & Daikin.

 

The series follows Suraj’s journey from a 12 year old to a 16 year old in a continued episode format from the start of his training as a young cricketer to how he is discovered as an upcoming talent by Samir Tendlya and how he fights against all hardships and challenges to attain his goal. Suraj – the rising star brings out the real lives of Suraj, his peers, their day to day challenges, opportunities and on the other hand, the fantasy like cricket matches bring action and magic to the show. This dramatic series has all elements that will appeal to family audiences.

 

Suraj – the rising star is woven around three strong messages – family l action l fantasy. The series is based on a balance of love and conflict, strongly reflecting family values - whether it is Suraj, his father and his sister or other characters woven around the central theme – cricket. Though the series is very realistic in terms of relationships, emotions and drama, the cricket element of the show has a lot of elements of fantasy and magic. Suraj’s unique bowling style and techniques are almost magical. The show targets to all generations, the human drama that tells the most important things of your life of doing your best with family bonds and friendship, depicted through a “Never Give Up” spirit.
