Electronic cigarettes – FAQ
1. Who invented electronic cigarettes?
The person that is most commonly credited with inventing electronic cigarettes is a pharmacist from China called Hon Lik. It was in the year 2000 when he thought of a device that would vaporize liquid and thus produce something for the user to inhale. Eight years later, in 2008, Dr. Yunqiang Xiu developed the second generation electronic cigarette which combines cartridge and the atomizer into one component known as cartomizer. All of the leading brands and most of the smaller ones these days sell only the second generation electronic cigarettes. What is interesting is that the basic idea can be traced back to the 1960s when a man called Herbert Gilbert patented a device that uses heated, moist, flavored air instead of tobacco and paper. His only problem was that this patent of his was never commercialized and was soon forgotten.
2. How do electronic cigarettes produce the smoking experience?
Believe it or not, the idea is insanely simple and putting it into action is not that much more complicated either. The secret of electronic cigarettes is all about the turning a liquid into vapor without producing too much radiating heat and without having to resort to all kinds of chemicals in order for this to happen. In short, one of the components of the electronic cigarette called atomizer is heated up thanks to the energy stored in the battery and this heat changes the liquid into vapor. This liquid may contain nicotine but in all of the cases it contains water and flavoring as well as propylene glycol which is used in other types of inhalers, such as asthma pumps.
3. Is tar present in electronic cigarettes?
No it is not. This, one of the most harmful ingredients of regular cigarettes is not to be found in electronic cigarettes. The same goes for all the other harmful additives that you can find in traditional cigarettes and which are responsible for them being so unhealthy and harmful.
4. Can electronic cigarettes explode?
While there have been reports from some sources that electronic cigarettes can explode, it turns out that these were more urban myths than real cases. There have been cases in which the electronic cigarette might short-circuit so to say and stop working, but to think that they can explode is silly. There is nothing in them that would cause or aid an explosion. Electronic cigarettes do not explode.
5. Where can I buy electronic cigarettes?
If you wish to buy electronic cigarettes, it is not like you will find a lack of options when it comes to where to buy them. You can find electronic cigarettes in pharmacies and in specialized shops. There are some general stores that will also sell them. However, if you are looking for the highest quality electronic cigarettes and for the best deals on them, then you need to go online.
