It eats up processor time like a drain sucks rainwater. My PC runs critically slow, removing the sump.exe processes cures all the problems.

Programm lief im Hintergrund ohne gewollten Start; HW.

I can't get rid of sump.exe. Using a Start Up Monitor program - "Advanced Uninstaller Pro" I can choose to disable this or delete it. Neither prevents it starting up. It consumes 25 - 30 % of processor time even when the system is busy loading other programs etc. Speed Up My PC (This is their file) worked for me when the processor was 100% busy all the time, but this legacy is damned annoying. I will complain.

Received this reply from Uniblue, the author of sump.exe. I was complaining about it's persistence, but it is easy to turn off this particular tool. “Even if SpeedUpMyPC is utilizing a lot of CPU usage, this is run in lowest priority while your PC is idle. So as soon as you start running an application, the SUMP.exe CPU usage will drop down automatically. If you would like to disable this feature, please click on the 'Manage' tab, go to 'Undo changes' and select 'Speed Tools'. Then locate the 'Proactive thumbnail generator' entry and set it to OFF”
