I play European Roulette and looking for strategies that can give me 80 to 90% chances of winning in this game. I am currently unemployed and have about ZAR 400 to invest in this game and don’t want to loose. Please advise me on how can I make the most out of this game and beat the wheel 80 to 90%. I am quite aware of the fact that this is a game of chance, but I want to make the most out of it.

Comments:

Really greedy, aren’t you?

Bet every number except 0 and 1. You’ll win almost 95% of the time. You are welcome.

Of course, when you win, it’ll hardly be any money, and when you lose, you’ll lose all your winnings plus a little more… but you will win almost 95% of the time.

(You didn’t actually think there was a strategy to guarantee a profit did you? And if there was, that someone would just tell you on here?)

Sounds like you are losing that money in some way regardless.

Do you think addicting gambling is stupid?
I do. You?
I mean half of the time you don’t win any money and you find out that it was a waste of time and money.

Comments:

Hi Laura! Here is my perspective of gambling. Gambling is not a waste of time for everyone. To make things simple to understand, there are basically TWO main types of people that go to casinos. The GAMBLER, and the CUSTOMER.

Customers are just regular people who come to the casinos for enjoyment. Some of these customers come once a year, others come many times a year. Sure they want to win, but they are mainly enjoying the entertainment, and are not too much concerned about losing. I wouldn’t consider this as a waste of time, because they’ve paid for the entertainment.

Then, there is the GAMBLER. You have the WINNING gambler, and the LOSING gambler.

YES, it is a proven fact that casinos can be beaten. However, only a small percentage of “”sophisticated”" gamblers can successfully develop a strategy/system that can consistently win at casinos. Usually, these games are Baccarat, Craps, Roulette, and BlackJack.

These intelligent winning gamblers make a living from the casinos. Therefore, it is not a waste of time for them. They are actually being paid “excellent” money for their time. They are having fun, but they are not there for fun. It is strictly business! The only problem that these WINNING gamblers have is HIDING from the Casino Management. It is totally unfair, but casinos DO NOT ALLOW INTELLIGENT GAMBLERS into their casinos. If they discover that you understand how to play the games at a skillful level, they will ask the WINNING gambler to leave! If you come back, you’re arrested! This explains why casinos stay in business! They kick out the intelligent winners, and trap in all the losers!

Now, the LOSING Gambler is a gambler who wins big quite often, BUT LOSES WAY MORE! They are there to win, but have very weak strategies for winning! Therefore, in the long run, they are losing far more than they win. Some of these losing gamblers are willing to spend their entire paychecks, or even rent/bill money just to gamble. The losing gambler is why there are hotlines available for gambling addictions. Therefore, you may consider it a waste of time for these losing gamblers.

What are some good games for a game night?

I am planning a game night, not sure when but I would like to invite family and friends. I need a few ideas of fun new exciting games to play besides the usual family feud, monopoly, etc. Also you can include some drinking games too..

Comments:

Drinko, it’s like Plinko (price is right) but you drink the shot the chip lands into the crappy one is water lol. You can buy it at Spencers. I also like Taboo, Scene It, That new game by the people who did Cranium (I forget the name), Crokano (you have to by a board for it but it’s fun you flick chips in the middle to get closest to the center goal), Poker, I have a Wii and those games are hilarious especially the ones for the balance board.

How do I get Mobile phone number for pakistan?

I live in US and plan to go to Pakistan, does anyone know if I can get Pakistani Mobile Phone number (Mobilink-Jazz) in the US.
I will only use it in Pak, I have the phone & I know where to get the charge/scratch card.

Thanks in Advance

Comments:

First thing first. There is absolutely no way, you can purchase a Mobilink sim card in the US. Even, if any one offers you one in the US, do NOT take it as it might have been misused.

Once you reach Pakistan, the best way to get a brand new sim is to visit one of the franchises. It will cost you somewhere around to . They can even register the sim and number in your name. As I am not sure which city you’re going to visit, select it the following link and you’ll get a franchise contact details.

The website is: http://www.mobilinkgsm.com/about/franchise.php

Have a safe journey!

What does the double arrow mean in roulette?

On Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roulette#Board_depiction_.28American_Roulette.29

there’s a double ended arrow between the 0 and the 00 in the board depiction. What does this mean, and what are the odds?

Comments:

It means that you can split the two numbers (which pays 17 to 1). The arrows on that model aren’t really there on a roulette table, but are shown in the model to show street (ie. one of the lines of 3 numbers) and column (one of the three rows of 12 numbers) bets. The 0 and 00 dont fit into the 12 by 3 grid with the other numbers, so they are in a line of 2 numbers instead of 3 numbers. Since there is no 3rd number in that row, you cannot place a street bet (covering all 3 numbers in the row), but are left betting on only two numbers, which makes it a split bet instead of a street bet. The drawing is just illustrating that you can split the numbers 0 and 00.

What jobs are there in the gambling industry?

I live in the Uk and I’m 17 years old, I’ve just finished my first year at college/6th form and lately been interested in working in the gambling industry. What kind of jobs is there and is there any type of apprenticeships you can do?
Top answer will be rewarded and thankyou for all the answers in advance :)
Thanks you “?” Its not letting me give you a best answer but thanks for the detailed answer much appreciated.

Comments:

Well you won’t be allowed to do any work in it for another year of course, but there’s lots you can do. Casinos are always looking for blackjack/poker dealers, and betting shops are always after more staff, if you show a bit of interest or initiative they’ll move you through the ranks quite quickly too!!

If you want to gamble professionally then that’s not really something anyone can advise you on, bar exchange betting and stuff and google is probably your friend there =p

I have to warn you though, I loved gambling, I loved horse racing, poker, roulette and all that stuff so I worked in a betting shop. The customers could be really friendly, and there was good banter but the job itself was horrible. The hours and days you have to work are bad enough, you’re only closed one day a year and you’re open until late. You’re encouraged to make your customers develop addictions and keep playing even when you know they’re suffering for it and the “GamCare” they have in place to protect people is an absolute farce. I saw people come in with money that they were supposed to be using to pay their mortgage, people leaving their kids outside for hours on end (and you can’t let them come in even if it’s raining because they’re not allowed on the site). You see some really really sad things, some illegal things and some scary things. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Please please really think about it and explore other options before you look for a career there.

I have played a lot of online poker before but I am thinking of going to the casino for the first time in a few days. What differences should I know about?

Comments:

Online poker is quite different.

Make sure you really understand the rules, and the way the game plays out (in terms of blinds, big blinds et). Normally online poker will prompt you, so you dont need to think about it, but at a real poker table, you really need to know whats going on so you dont look foolish.

If other players can see that you dont really know whats going on, they will target you and you will be *slaughtered*.

Also read up about etiquette. There are certain things you can do in online poker that would be considered rude at a real table.

You will most likely lose heavily at your first few games at a real poker table. Factor this into your budget, and make sure you know how much you are planning to spend *before* you sit down, and stick to it. Over time you will become more comfortable with playing at a table, and become better. There’s no real substitute for experience though.

Finally: If you are going in the hope of playing well, then AVOID ALCOHOL.
If you just want to have a fun time, and dont mind losing the money you take to the casino, then sure, drink, and enjoy the ride, but expect to lose

I am writing a college report on the online gambling industry. It is a lengthy “Analytical” report.
I am looking for places that might state how much they make ect, ect.
Please, don’t tell me Google or something like that. You don’t have to be a smart ass.
Also what kind of punishment you can get in for doing this. Citation would be great too

Comments:

In terms of laws surrounding online gambling, the most important one in the US is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (2006) (check out http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Unlawful_Internet_Gambling_Enforcement_Act_of_2006#Other_Internet_gambling_legislation and look out for any more specific information you can find in libraries etc.), which put significant restrictions on the industry.

You may also wish to look into the stances being taken by McCain and Obama over the issue in the lead up to the election – Obama in particular has express desire to look into regulating the practice, rather than banning it (check out http://www.jackpot.co.uk/online-casino-news/news.html as this page has some articles on both candidates, as well as the ongoing struggle between Antingua and the US over online gambling, which may be of interest). Also look into a man named Barney Frank, who is one of the industry’s biggest proponents in congress (http://www.barneyfrank.net/) and continues to fight for legalised online gambling.

More information on international laws in general can be found at http://www.jackpot.co.uk/online-casino-regulation.php – that site has some good info on the industry in general.

Good luck finding out what you need, hope that helped a little!

ETA: I just found this, it’s the original text of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that I mentioned – this should be really helpful when talking about the legal side! http://www.rules.house.gov/109_2nd/text/hr4954cr/hr49543_portscr.pdf

Lets say you buy some stocks and after a month or so your money gets doubled. Would you not morally feel bad about the money that you got from stock market without doing a thing? Would you feel it is similar to gambling? Can one say that just because there is some science behind stock market the money that some gets out of stock market is more legit?

Comments:

When you invest in stock market you should have a limit where to sell to take your profit or cut your loose.
I will say fundamental analysis help the market to be efficient, by rewarding the best companies. A analyst is appreciating the accounting, behavior, prospect of a company.
On the contrary, Technical analysis doesn’t provide any benefit to the market. Plus Technical analysis doesn’t have any support among researchers. You just try to anticipate the trend thanks to magical patterns on charts.
So investing through technical analysis is like gambling and investing doing a fundamental analysis is not!
