Did you know? Almost all wireless routers are setup for unsecure
wireless network connections at the time of purchase.
Did you know? You should never connect your cable or dsl modem
directly to your computer, without having a firewall setup. If your
Internet connection is setup using this method, you are inviting
Ad-Ware, Spy-Ware and worst of all - viruses into your computer!
It would not be long before you start experiencing disturbing pop-ups
and computer malfunctions. Worst case scenario: Identity theft.

Most likely cause(s): |
Incorrect wireless network settings - one
or more of the following settings are incorrect: |
1. Network Authentication. Should be set
to 'Open' for unsecured
wireless connections. |
2. Data encryption. Should be set to 'Disabled'
for unsecured wireless connections. |
3. Network key (sometimes called a WEP key).
In plain english, it's just a password used to access a router. Should
be blank for unsecured wireless connections. |
|
Other possible causes: |
1. Firewall - improperly configured (not
allowing communication between the devices or access to the Internet).
Make
sure Internet programs are not being blocked by the firewall. |
2. Router - improperly configured (not allowing
communication between the devices). Repeat
steps 1 - 5. |
3. Cable modem or DSL modem - improperly
connected to the Router (wrong port). Repeat
steps 1 - 5. |
